Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (http://www.cgsusa.org/) is a unique approach to religious education based on our Catholic liturgy and the Bible. This Montessori method (hands-on learning) allows the child to come into a room (atrium) that has been specially designed just for them! Everything is kid sized and they are welcomed to use beautiful learning materials to draw closer to God.

Each 2 hour session consists of a presentation of new material, work time and prayer. Presentations include biblical geography, liturgy, Nativity narratives (Birth of Jesus, Annunciation, Adoration of Magi, etc), parables (The Mustard Seed, The Precious Pearl, etc) and practical life lessons.

One of the most well known images of Jesus Christ, is Jesus being the “Good Shepherd”, “for My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (Jn 10:27). Jesus is calling all of us, and we respond by following him in faith.  This interaction between Christ and his sheep begins at our baptism, and he never stops calling us to him. Our young children can especially hear Christ’s voice as the Good Shepherd. This unique program has been specially designed to help even our youngest children explore all areas of faith formation appropriate to their developmental age.  One of the most well known images of Jesus Christ, is Jesus being the “Good Shepherd”, “for My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (Jn 10:27).
