What led us to the Virtual Pipe Organ choice?

Recently we announced to the parish that WE ARE GETTING AN ORGAN FOR OUR CHURCH!!!! In the next few weeks we will feature short articles to help us understand the breadth and depth of this great blessing!

Organ Talk, Week 6: What led us to the Virtual Pipe Organ choice?

During the last nearly two years, we carefully considered a wide variety of organ options for St. Francis. One of the first possibilities was what appeared to be a really nice used pipe organ that became available when a church in Pennsylvania closed. The price for the organ itself was quite reasonable, but the cost of shipping and installation was very far out of reach.

We then spent a lot of time with extensive comparison shopping. Our goal was to identify an organ that best represented the optimal intersection of liturgical appropriateness, ability to perform a wide historical range of music, installation compatibility with our nave -its acoustics and structural properties-, ease of playing, longevity of components, maintainability and of course, price.

It finally became apparent that a Virtual Pipe Organ could meet all our liturgical, musical and financial requirements, and also be the best long-term option.

Dean Huff

Dean is a parishioner and an accomplished organist. He joined our parish a couple of years ago, and has been a tremendous help volunteering in the planning and execution of the organ acquisition project.
