We invite our young parishioners (and families across the Boulder deanery) to join us for a children's workshop focused on the fundamentals of liturgical music and the beauty of Gregorian chant.
When:
Workshop Day: Thursday, June 11, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Singing at Mass: Friday, June 12, at 8:00 AM (Solemnity of the Sacred Heart).
Where: St. Clare Hall, St. Francis of Assisi.
Who: Children and youth ages 5 to 14 (ability to read is recommended).
Cost: Free! This is a volunteer-led event for the benefit of our community.
Instructors: Isaac Johnson and Brian Lambert.
Lunch: Pizza will be provided, or families may bring their own to enjoy on the back lawn.
What will the kids learn? Participants will learn the fundamentals of liturgical music and a varied collection of Gregorian chant in both Latin and English. The repertoire will include:
Missa de Angelis
Sung Propers (Introit, Offertory, and Communion)
Choral hymns and
A special Communion motet
The camp will culminate with the children leading the music at the 8:00 AM Mass on Friday, June 12, celebrating the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
