Beauty for Ashes
Fr. Jim invites you, your family and friends to join him on Friday, August 12, 6:00 p.m. in discovering the communion possible with God that exists in beautiful music and art. Father Jim will read scriptures paired with music performed by world-renowned musicians Dr. Adam Zuchiewicz, piano, and Jubal Fulks, violin. The free event includes a reception and art gallery with an “Art is Prayer” theme.

About the Performers
Dr. Adam Piotr Zukiewicz (Piano) Dr. Adam Piotr Zukiewicz: A native of Poland, Dr. Zukiewicz is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed concert pianist. He has concertized across Europe, United States, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Hong Kong, and Macau, and his performances have been broadcast in the USA, Canada, Italy, Slovenia, Germany, and Poland. He is also a frequent contributor to Colorado Public Radio, where his broadcast recordings can be heard on air and online in Colorado and beyond. He has performed in some of the most important concert venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona, Residenztheater in Munich, Goldensaal at the Musikverein in Vienna, Teatro alla Scalain, Milan, and many others. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Toronto and Masters of Music Arts degree from Indiana University. He has also studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, UK, and was a music scholar at the United World College of the Adriatic in Duino, Italy. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Piano at the University of Northern Colorado. He serves as a Resident Faculty Pianist at the International Music Festival of the Adriatic in Duino, Italy and is a founder and Artistic Director of the Intercollegiate Piano Competition of the West.
Dr. Jubal Fulks (Violin): As a soloist, Dr. Fulks has performed with orchestras across the United States and has appeared on NPR’s “Performance Today.” His orchestral experience includes the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in the San Francisco Bay Area; the Mostly Mozart Festival at Alice Tully Hall in New York City, in the Jazz at Lincoln Center series, and the New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. He has taught and performed at summer festivals, including in Vermont at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival where he is a faculty member, Kinhaven Music School, Killington Music Festival, St. Michael’s College, and in Iowa at the Lutheran Music Festival. He has previously held positions at Lutheran College in Iowa and the University of Alabama and maintains an active recording and national recital schedule and has toured extensively in Europe and Asia. Dr. Fulks also serves as a leader and founding member of Sinfonia Spirituosa, a baroque chamber orchestra based in Sacramento, California that is dedicated to presenting bold, historically-informed performances on period instruments. He holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook and Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from North Carolina School of the Arts. He is currently Assistant Professor of Violin at the University of Northern Colorado.
