Rectory Construction Update

November 8th, 2023. The new Rectory is moving along on schedule. Here is a brief update as to what is going on behind the large dirt pile:

  • The perimeter “French Drain” system and drain sump has been completed.

  • Under slab plumbing and radon evacuation lines have been installed.

  • A considerable amount of concrete work is in place:

    • 51 caissons were drilled, and in them, vertical steel rebar reinforcement was assembled and placed, and topped off with 3 truck-loads of concrete.

    • The grade beams, foundation, and retaining walls have been formed, poured and the initial curing has taken place. This work required approximately 130 cubic yards of concrete, worth 14 concrete-mixer truck loads.

    • The perimeter walls have also been partially backfilled with compacted soil.

    • The 7” thick structural, lower-level, concrete floor has also been poured and finished on top of a 5” void form. This work required approximately 40 cubic yards of concrete, worth 4 concrete-mixer truck loads.

  • Steel beams and 5 steel posts supporting the main floor have been placed.

  • Wood framing has started this week:

    • Drilling, placing and securing the perimeter wall sill plates has been completed.

    • Lower-level exterior walls are being constructed.

    • Main level floor joists are being set and secured.

  • In addition to all of this work, the blessed items that Deacon George collected were buried adjacent to the exterior wall of the chapel.

What’s something interesting that is going to happen in the next few weeks?

Grading, the large dirt pile will be spread out, and the framing progress will be visible from the parking lot 🤩.

Finances

For those who are wondering, please know that there is an ongoing effort behind the scenes to raise funds for the Rectory Project. The Rectory Capital Campaign team is currently contacting families directly, requesting support for the project, answering questions, and helping parishioners discern what The Lord may be calling them to pledge. We expect to reach the entire parish community by the Spring. If you would like to meet to talk about a financial gift before the Spring, please reach out to me (Conrad Kawulok).
