Maintenance for heart and soul
“If today you hear his voice harden not your hearts”. Hebrews 3:15
It is interesting that my work at the church often mimics what I do at home. . . I’m speaking of how my wife and I occasionally do a walk-through of our home with a paintbrush, looking for areas to touch-up trim that has been banged up and walls that need paint or repairs.
If it's just minor repairs, they usually don’t show, but if not, they need to be taken care of with patience and TLC; they need attention. This is necessary so our home and our church look nice and well maintained. These imperfections are like our sins- if we don’t take care of them and “clean them up”, it is not good for our souls… our hearts will harden.
I like a saying I heard a long time ago, “Do your best and God will do the rest.” Praying daily helps my day... listening to his voice and asking for guidance and help. Our Church blesses me too. I can say that watching all of you in our church family inspires me and encourages me. I see the love in your eyes and it touches my heart.
We are so blessed to have daily opportunities for Mass and the Eucharist. My days don’t start out right without prayer and Him. So our hearts won’t harden, we must listen for and hear His voice daily, asking forgiveness, and staying close to Him, through reading His word and participating in the Sacraments.
Shhh… listen.
